Welcome to UwWeb Software -
an experiment in standalone, browser-based app development.
About 4 years ago, we had the idea to build a relatively unique kind of software product: one that was more usable, portable, and accessible than most other software. While My Own Medical Info was a small product - basically a bunch of tables with some forms - we were pretty sure it fulfilled a critical need. Until I started this project, the best way to store personal medical data was in a general-purpose spreadsheet. Surely a simpler, less expensive, and more task-specific product would be a great alternative. In fact, I still believe this is true - and that our product is a clear success in that respect.
However, while we made a good product, it just wasn't used by very many people. Although this was partly due to limited marketing, I think the big problem was a scary suggestion that users pay an $8 registration fee. We originally hoped that this would help fund tech support, updates, new development, etc. - but this was clearly a mistake. Even though the product was fully functional without registration, talking about money so early in a product’s life was (in retrospect) not a good strategy.
Therefore, in order to make things simpler - and because I’m sure the application will help make you happier and healthier, I offer My Own Medical Info as free, open licensed software. In other words, with the exception of components created by other developers, you can do whatever you want with it. This includes improving, extracting, re-using, and even re-labelling the code. In fact, if you let me know what you're trying to do, I can even send you the un-compressed source along with some helpful comments.
Although I would like to give credit to my original collaborators, they have since moved on to other projects - leaving my personal info all I’m allowed to publish. So... here it is:
I am Louis Heibert and my title at UnWeb Software is “Lead Developer”. If you’d like to discuss UnWeb Software or My Own Medical Info, you can contact me at louish@unwebsoftware.com.
